We are finally on the last week of 2020 which has been a tough year more so for artists who for the first time were restricted to their homes and studios due to COVID-19. However, this is also the year we have streamed more music than ever before and today we will explore some of the best African songs of 2020.

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the global online music streaming subscriptions has spiked to reach 394 million subscriptions. And according to the RIAA, Music streaming has surpassed digital downloads and all physical products. Note, the 394 million excludes YouTube streams.

Spotify dominates the global music industry, but in Africa, Chinese-backed, Lagos-based streaming startup Boomplay is enjoying rapid growth. According to their recently released report, Boomplay now has 50 million Monthly Active Users.
